Our Educational Psychologist, provides assessments and interventions to support children’s learning, emotional wellbeing, and school performance.
Through play therapy, parent collaboration, and psycho-educational support, we help children gain confidence and equips families with practical tools for growth and success.
The initial phase begins with a parent consultation to gather concerns and important background history. It also gives the parents an opportunity to meet me and get a sense of who I am and who will be working with their child. Thereafter, 4 sessions are held with the child. After this a feedback session is held with the parents to discuss the therapy process so far, recommendations and the way forward.
An initial phase of 4 sessions is conducted with the adult with a review of the therapy process in the fourth session. The review includes recommendations and a plan to discuss the way forward.
Psycho- Educational assessments are conducted in order to understand a child's cognitive strengths and weaknesses and how it may affecting their academic functioning. It looks at skills like attention, reasoning, verbal skills, pace of work, spatial skills, fine motor skills, etc. An emotional screening is also done to see if anything could be affecting the child emotionally.
The process begins with a parent consultation to gather concerns and background history. Thereafter, the child is assessed over 2 sessions that are 2-3 hours long depending on their age and pace of work. These sessions are held on different days. Thereafter, 2-3 weeks is required for me to put the report together. A feedback session is then arranged to discuss the results.
I am able to claim directly from Discovery and Discovery affiliated medical aids. If you are with a different medical aid, you are required to pay via EFT for the sessions. Once paid, you will receive an invoice marked as "paid" to claim back from your medical aid.
